Korean online programmes were first developed in the VLN Primary through the Ministry of Education’s Asian Languages Learning in Schools (ALLiS) project in 2015. Now our ALLiS contract is over, we continue to teach Korean online in 2018 through the generous support of the Korean Education Centre (KEC).

The KEC teaching fund enables us to provide discounted registrations for learners in our full semester programmes. We can also offer free 5 week Korean taster classes for schools who wish to learn the basics of Korean language and culture, with a view to taking up language classes.

In 2017 our Korean teachers took part in Korean International Conference, and the chairperson of our leadership team went to Korea on a study tour. We also support global collaborations with Korean schools through the Over the Back Fence Project.

You can read about our Korean language classes and activities in this article

If schools have learners that are interested in Korean online, either a full semester, or double semester, or just a 5 week Taster programme, then they should make their registrations here

All NZ children are welcome to participate. Our programmes cover NZ curriculum L1/2.

Hopefully this opportunity will inspire teachers to consider Korean as a language option in their school, participate in the opportunities provided by KEC or AsiaNZ for Korean study tours, and learn the language themselves.

Our full range of online programmes can be viewed here.
