On July 12th 2017, Central South University (CSU) and the University of Debrecen signed the CSU-UOD Strategic Cooperation Agreement at the Hungarian Parliament Building, as part of an effort to accommodate the China-proposed strategies of “Belt and Road” and “Going Global” and Hunan province’s strategic framework of opening up.

On June 6, a delegation led by Zhou Kechao, Vice President of CSU, visited the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal on behalf of the university, based on the consensus reached in March 2017 by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nepali Prime Minister Prachanda on jointly building the Belt and Road (also called B&R, short for the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road), enriching the connotation of people-to-people exchanges and deepening cultural and youth exchanges.

According to the data of Essential Science Indicators (hereinafter referred to as ESI) of Clarivate Analytics (former Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property and Technology Business Division) updated on May 11, 2017 (Beijing time), both immunology, psychiatry and psychology of Central South University cracked the top 1% of ESI for the first time.
