Rector of State University of Humanities and Social Studies: Aleksei Borisovich MAZUROV, PhD, Habil. in History, Full Professor, Deputy of the Moscow Regional Duma, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Education, Culture and Tourism.

Prof. Mazurov was born in 1970. He graduated from the Faculty of History of Kolomna Pedagogical Institute in 1992 and completed the course of postgraduate study at the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1996. He has been Rector of State University of Humanities and Social Studies since 2004.

Prof. Mazurov is a renowned expert in history and archaeology of Ancient Rus, an advocate of scientific knowledge among schoolchildren. He is an expert of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, and author of more than 200 scientific publications.

His research interests include national history, archaeology, source and regional studies, medieval city history, and historical biography.

Prof. Mazurov has numerous honorary titles, awards, and prizes.

Prof. Mazurov is married and has three children.
