Valentin N. PAVLOV, Rector of Bashkir State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor.

Prof. Pavlov is a holder of the titles of Honored Worker of Science of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Excellent Worker of Public Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan. He has been a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2016. In 2018 Valentin Pavlov was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus of Harbin Medical University.

Prof. Pavlov was born in 1966 in Ufa. He graduated with honors from the Faculty of General Medicine of Bashkir State Medical University. He started his professional career as an assistant in 1993 and then took up the position of Associate Professor at the Department of General Surgery of Bashkir Medical Institute. He became the Director of the Urology Training Program in 2000 and the Head of the Department of Urology with the training program of the Institute of Postgraduate Education in 2003. He was appointed Vice-Rector for Clinical Work of Bashkir State Medical University in 2006.

He has been Rector of BSMU since 2011.

Prof. Pavlov published about 500 scientific and methodological papers including the Federal Urology Guidance. He obtained 35 patents for inventions of the Russian Federation and four utility patents of the Russian Federation.

Prof. Pavlov is married, has a son.

Current position of BSMU in rankings:

  • 5th among medical universities of Russia in the international ranking Round University Ranking 2019;
  • 4th among medical universities of Russia in Ranking Web of Universities 2019;
  • 7th among medical universities of Russia in University Rankings 2019;
  • 6th among medical universities of Russia in the ranking compiled based on the data of higher education institutions performance monitoring for 2019 carried out by the software methodological package LiftUp;
  • 9th  among medical universities of Russia according to the results of the annual study of the National University Ranking;
  • 2nd according to the Independent Ranking of Libraries of Medical Universities of Russia.
