Awards and achievements of the educational program. The program was top ranked in the project Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia carried out by the Guild of Experts in the Sphere of Professional Education, the National Centre of Public Accreditation and the Accreditation in Education Journal in 2011-2016. According to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARES 2017), Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy is marked by good quality performance in teaching, scientific activities and high demand for the graduates among the employers.

DENTISTRYPEDIATRICSPREVENTIVE MEDICINE  

Teaching staff. Highly qualified teaching staff (almost 500 teachers): Doctors of Sciences—21%, Candidates of Sciences—54%, Professors—15%, Associate Professors—32%, two Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and 27 members of various Russian and foreign academies. Seventy-five percent of teachers have over 10 years of experience in teaching, 40 departments (99%) are headed by Doctors of Sciences.

Academy partners within the educational program. The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko, Municipal Clinical Hospital No.5, Municipal Hospital No.13, over 100 healthcare institutions of Nizhny Novgorod city and region, 35 specialized facilities in other regions of the Russian Federation, and 40 health facilities in countries near and far-abroad.

Students’ achievements. The faculty students are repeat winners of Russian olympiads in surgery and therapy (the second place in the First International Universiade of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Moscow; the second place in the Third Russian Olympiad in therapy named after N.S. Korotkov, 2016; the second place in the First Russian Olympiad in anatomy, St. Petersburg). In 2016, the General Medicine Faculty team took the first place in the Fourth Olympiad in practical skills in the Nizhny NovgorodStateMedicalAcademy.

Facilities and Resources. Nine academic buildings with modern equipment, an internal electronic library system, a simulation training complex with the Center of Practical Skills. There is a spacious sports and fitness complex. The best students get personal scholarships, take part in the Federal Scholarship Program of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation and the program “Nycomed—Golden Frame Medicine.” Dormitories are available for non-resident students.

Opportunities for students. The university is actively involved in the international student exchange projects as well as in a range of other reputable multinational projects and keeps long-term partnership relations with the faculties of medicine in the universities of Germany and France. Fourth-to-sixth-year students do an internship abroad within the program of the National Union of Medical Students.

Employment prospects. General practitioner, and after medical residency—obstetrician-gynecologist, cardiologist, neurosurgeon, mental physician, surgeon (over 50 specialities).
