HEI’s image. According to the Worldwide Professional University Rankings RankPro 2013-2014 the Kemerovo State University is 358 among the 500 best HEIs of the world.

Programme presentation. This educational programme allows students to get not only fundamental education in mathematics but also to master theoretical and practical aspects of development and functioning of information systems. The classes are given with the use of the latest educational technologies.

The Faculty has material and technical resources necessary for the organization and management of the study process. There are six computer classrooms, 5 multimedia classrooms as well as resources of the regional Centre of New Information Technologies.

Teaching staff. The graduate department of this programme is the UNESCO Department of New Information Technologies. It is one of the leading departments at the University in research work. The great majority of grants and contract works carried out at the Faculty are concentrated at this Department.

The teachers take an active part in the work of international and all-Russian conferences in Mathematics and Computer Science. Based on the Department and the Centre of New Information Technologies a great number of research conferences such as “Information Resources of the Kuzbas», “New Information Technologies in Education” and others have been carried out.

Competitiveness of students. The students of this programme show a high level of academic performance during the examination period. They make the core of the Faculty team in programming and succeed in regional Olympiads. The graduates with a qualification of a “mathematician-programmer” work within their specialty in organizations and enterprises in positions requiring a good knowledge of modern computer technologies and programming languages. Some graduates also work abroad (Australia).

Interaction with employers. The teaching staff of the Faculty maintains close cooperation with organizations which actively use information technologies in their activities. Among them are LLC “Trade Union”, LLC “Istline”, CJSC “Holding Company “Siberian Business Union”, JSC “Sibirtelecom” and others. Students have work experience in these organizations and then obtain employment. Many graduates work in banks and insurance companies.
