Programme presentation. The training of specialists in the programme “Journalism” has been carried out at the Faculty of Philology and Journalism since 1991. At present this programme corresponds to the requirements of modern journalism education and is based on the following principles: focus on practice-oriented knowledge of specialists, development of personal creative qualities, cultural and professional competences, and consideration of the regional journalistic community.

The educational programme aims at training specialists for work in newspapers, magazines, information agencies, television, radio, network mass media, information resource service and PR-structures. The Faculty uses the latest educational technologies and mod-ern material and technical resources. In 2011, it also founded a television broadcasting centre supplied with necessary equipment for production of television programmes and educational and methodological materials.

Teaching staff. Teachers with the degrees of Candidates and Doctors of Sciences, re-search and academic experience as well as specialists among leading journalists of the region and mass media administration carry out the education and training process.

Competitiveness of students. Students have become winners of all-Russian Student Olympiad in Journalism; medallists and laureates of professional journalistic competitions of different levels many times. It means that the Faculty provides a high level of education and training. Students form professional skills in the course of practices in the leading Mass Media of RF and the region. The students who succeed in studies, research and creative work get scholarships of RF President, Lieutenant Governor and the KemerovoStateUniversity.

Interaction with employers. The educational programme aims at the involvement of employers in the study process. They conduct classes; supervise practical work and creative activities. As a result graduates have successful careers in mass media of the region and abroad.
