HEI’s image. For 25 years the Faculty of Pediatrics of Tver State Medical Academy has trained medical specialists for Tver and the Tver Region and for other Russian regions. At present, graduates of the Faculty occupy senior positions in the hospitals of the city, the Ministry of Healthcare of the Tver Region, in Moscow, St. Petersburg and abroad.

Programme presentation. The study programme is developed using IT, role play learning and the accumulating grade system. Simulation training is available in the edu-cationalcentre for practice.

The Department of Pediatrics has close connections with the clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, Saarland University, Germany, which allows maintaining high level of re-search focused on foreign studies. The work of the staff of the Department of Polyclinic Pediatrics on the formation of children’s health is highly appreciated by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation and was used for the creation of a curriculum model. Participants of the research group of the Department of Pediatric Surgery have re-peatedly become prize winners at national student research conferences.

Teaching staff. There are more than 300 teachers at the Faculty, including al-most 200 Candidates and 50 Doctors of Medical Sciences, 3 Honoured Researchers of the Russian Federation, 11 Honoured Doctors of the RF and 2 Corresponding Members of the RussianAcademy of Medical Sciences. The Research school of Professor A.F. Vinogradov is well-known far beyond the Tver Region. Many teachers work in practical healthcare and are chief external specialists of the regional Ministry of Healthcare.

Competitiveness of students. High-quality theoretical education and practical training allow the graduates to be demanded in the leading medical institutions of the Tver Region as well as in other Russian regions and abroad. During their studies students-pediatricians not only acquire general professional skills but also do research, public activity, sports and arts.

Interaction with employers. Head doctors, heads of departments, leading specialists of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Tver Region are involved in the development of the study programme and reviewing of the curricula and are members of the State Examination Commission at the State Final Attestation of graduates. In cooperation with practical healthcare institutions the Faculty regularly conducts research and educational conferences.
