Programme presentation. Quality training of specialists in the programme “Radio Engineering” is connected with the integration of science and business. The Faculty closely cooperates with the institutes of the Siberian Branch of the RussianAcademy of Sciences and leading enterprises in this sphere. For example, the University founded branches of departments in the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of SB RAS, Institute of Semiconductor Physics of SB RAS, JSC “Vostok”, JSC “The Novosibirsk Semiconductor Devices Plant”, thus carrying out training of specialists providing a switch to digital broadcasting of programmes within Russia. Great emphasis is put on retraining of specialists.

The Faculty created several modern research centres for effective cooperation with science, particularly “Power Electronics”, “Digital Systems and Television”, “Nanotechnologies in Electronics”.

Teaching staff. Fundamental and applied research has increased from 46 million roubles in 2009 to 85 million roubles in 2011 as a result of goal-oriented activities of teachers in research development. Some developments had prestigious awards in distinguished international exhibitions: 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals (2009-2011).

Interaction with employers. The students of the Faculty carry out research under the supervision of teachers of NSTU and institutes of SB RAS, their research papers are published in leading scientific publications. Every year students become winners of different state grants (president, government), grants of large Russian and foreign enterprises (Schlumberger). Student research and applied projects gain support of large Russian funds – “U.M.N.I.K” programmes, the Fund of Assistance in the Development of Enterprises in Scientific and Technological Sphere.

The Faculty has a student department of IEEE’s international community, one of the largest associations of engineers of electronic technology as well as student design bureau and laboratory.

Graduates of the programme are in-demand in the regional labour market. Major enterprises of the Siberian region employing students are the following: JSC “Ecran-optical Systems”, “NPO Katod”, “NEVZ-Soyuz”, “NPO “Vostok”, “NII Measuring Equipment”, “NII Electronic Equipment”, the Construction-Technological Institute Of Applied Microelectronics and many others.
