Rector of Bashkir State Medical University (BSMU): Valentin Nikolaevich PAVLOV, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor.

Prof. Pavlov is a holder of the titles of Honored Worker of Science of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Excellent Worker of Public Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan. He has been a Corresponding Member of the RussianAcademy of Sciences since 2016. In 2018 Valentin Pavlov was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus of HarbinMedicalUniversity.

Prof. Pavlov was born in 1966 inUfa. He graduated with honors from the Faculty of General Medicine of BashkirStateMedicalUniversity. He started his professional activity as an assistant in 1993, and then took up the position of Associate Professor at the Department of General Surgery of Bashkir Medical Institute. He became the Director of the Urology Training Program in 2000 and the Head of the Department of Urology with the training program of the Institute of Postgraduate Education in 2003. He was appointed Vice Rector for Clinical Work of Bashkir State Medical University in 2006. He has been Rector of BSMU since 2011 and the Head of the Department of Urology with the training program of the Institute of Postgraduate Education since 2003.

Prof. Pavlov published about 500 scientific and methodological papers including Federal Urology Guidance. He obtained 35 patents of inventions of the Russian Federation and four utility patents of the Russian Federation.

Prof. Pavlov is married, has a son.

Current position of BSMU in rankings:

– the 4th position among medical universities of Russia in the international ranking Round University Ranking;

– the 1st position among medical universities in the ranking compiled based on the data of higher education institutions performance monitoring for 2017 carried out by the software methodological package LiftUp;

– the 15th position among medical universities of Russia in the Medical University Ranking;

– the 9th position among medical universities of Russia according to the results of the annual study of the National University Ranking.
