Achievements and awards. The program underwent professional-public accreditation carried out by the Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Career Development. The teachers and students are winners of the grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research "Sorption Properties of Clays as a Significant Factor of Protection of Fresh Groundwaters from Contamination," "Research on Electrophysical Effect on Oil-and-Gas Generating Potential and Reservoir Properties of Kerogen-Containing Low-Permeability Rocks (Evidence from Core of the Bazhenov Suite)" and the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises "Development of Downhole Device Having Electrophysical Effect on the Bed to Accelerate Oil and Gas Generation Processes and Improvement of Reservoir Properties in Low-Permeability Oil-Source Rocks."

Teaching staff. The teaching staff includes 17 Doctors of Sciences including Academician of the RussianAcademy of Sciences, Corresponding Members of the RussianAcademy of Sciences, 26 Candidates of Sciences as well as representatives of enterprises of the fuel and energy sector and extractive industry.

Facilities and resources. The university has state-of-the-art equipment including VG-3a hydrogen microconcentration analyzer, the analytical package based on Chromatec Crystal 5000 gas chromatograph, the hardware and software package based on Chromatec Crystal 5000 chromatograph, the package used to study isotopic composition of elements based on ThermoDelta V Ad isotope mass spectrometer. The state-of-the-art computer technology and Irap RMS software are also used.

Research. The university established the scientific school "Fluidodynamic and Geochemical Modeling in Petroleum Geology and Field Development."

The main research areas include the following: hard-to-recover reserves of hydrocarbons in clinoform formations of the Achimov sequence of West Siberia; study of the effect of an electromagnetic field on high viscosity index oils, and others.

Education. The teachers use the following educational technologies: the project method, development of geologic models corresponding to development parameters.

Strategic partners. The university cooperates with Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Saint Petersburg Mining University, and enterprises such as the Surgutneftegaz oil and gas company, NK Rosneft, Gazprom, Novatek, LUKOIL, Gazprom Neft, the Tyumen Branch of SurgutNIPINeft, the Tyumen Petroleum Research Center, KogalymNIPIneft, the branch of the LUKOIL-Engineering company, the Institute of Petroleum-Gas Geology and Geophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the RosNedra research firm, etc.

Competitive advantages. There is a geochemical laboratory with unique equipment; a research laboratory for recovery of hard-to-recover reserves. The teachers were involved in the discovery and development of oil and gas fields of West Siberia, and their experience is reflected in steering documents of the disciplines.
