Teaching staff. The educational program is implemented by three departments: the Department of Music History, the Department of Music Theory and the Department of Analytical Musicology. The teaching staff include 22 Professors, 14 Associate Professors, 11 Doctors of Art Criticism, and 23 Candidates. The lessons are given by internationally renowned researchers specializing in various fields of music studies: music theory and history, music folklore studies, music psychology and pedagogy, music ability psychology, Russian medieval studies, source studies, textology, and other fields.

Academy partners within the educational program. The departments actively maintain professional contacts with leading music universities of Russia as well as with foreign colleagues. Cooperation is diversified and maintained through master classes and meetings with leading art history representatives, research and practical conferences with the participation of teachers and students.

Students’ and alumni’s achievements. Alumni teach at children’s music schools and schools of art, academies and universities of Russia and abroad, at educational institutions of France, Sweden, Norway, Germany. There are many alumni specializing in musicology who perform research activities and work at research institutes, museums and archive repositories (the State Institute of Art History, the All-Russian Museum Association of Musical Culture named after M.I. Glinka, the P.I. Tchaikovsky Memorial House in Klin). Alumni work as journalists, editors and PR specialists (the Musical Life and Music and Time magazines, the Culture, Musical Review, Da capo al Fine newspapers , the Culture, Orpheus, Europe+ radio stations, the Culture TV channel, the Helikon and Novaya Opera Theaters, the Classica 21 publishing house, the Moscow International House of Music, the Bolshoi Theater). At the same time, alumni apply acquired knowledge participating in various projects (the Homecoming Chamber Music Festival, the Children Creativity Festival “January Evenings” at the State Museum of Fine Arts, the V. Gergiev Easter Festival, and others).

Opportunities for students. Students undertake on-the-job placement and artistic internship at the Gnessin Memorial Flat, attend lectures in the Great and Small Concert Halls, the Shuvalova Musical Salon and at the Moscow International House of Music, the House of Scientists on Prechistenka, the P.I. Tchaikovsky Memorial House in Klin, the All-Russia Museum Association of Musical Culture named after M.I. Glinka, etc.

Employment prospects. Teacher of musical theory and history courses at educational institutions of additional, general, secondary and higher vocational education; musical critic; observer of periodicals in the sphere of culture.
