Rector: Gennadii Petrovich KOTELNIKOV, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Samara Regional Duma, a two-time laureate of the National Award of the Russian Federation, a three-time laureate of the Russian Federation Government Award, a holder of the title of Honored Science Worker of the Russian Federation, a member of the Collegium and Presidium of the Research Council of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the Samara Region, an honorary citizen of the Samara Region, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor.

Prof. Kotelnikov was born in 1949. He graduated from Kuibyshev State Medical Institute with a degree in General Medicine. He’s been loyal to his alma mater throughout all his career.

His research interests include the issues of traumatology, orthopedics, organization and quality of higher medical education.

Prof. Kotelnikov published more than 890 scientific papers including 12 textbooks for students, 15 manuals for doctors, 15 study guides.

Twenty-five Doctors and 55 Candidates of Medical Sciences defended their theses under his guidance.

He has the following state awards: the Order of Friendship, the Order of Honor, the fourth-class Order of Merit for the Motherland, the Badge of Merit For Mentorship. He is a laureate of the National Award “Prizvanie” (Professional Dedication).
