KIMEP University invites international students from all over the world to complete an internship in higher education, entrepreneurship funding, financial development or Journalism/Public Relations. The Internships in Kazakhstan program is sponsored by the KU Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, in partnership with the Gabriel Al-Salem Foundation (GASF) and KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The 8-week program will include an intensive Russian language course. In addition, students will complete a part-time, academic internship at a participating organization in Almaty. Students will earn 1-3 hours of academic credit for their internship experience through the University Career Center (LA&S 490 Internship Exploration), Global & International Studies (GIST 495 Global Internships) or through their academic department. In addition, students will receive up to six credit hours for successful completion of the Intensive Russian Language course offered through KIMEP University. This course will meet daily for the duration of the program. Preference will be given to juniors, seniors, and graduate students in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.75 or higher. At least 2 semesters of Russian language coursework or comparable proficiency is required. Participation in an international internship provides students with the benefits of both study abroad and real world professional work experience. Through immersion in a foreign professional environment, students will not only gain valuable Russian language skills, but also acquire the professional practices and intercultural knowledge essential for success in today's global business environment. Vancouver Island University offers the English Language & Culture Program (ELCP) that combines high quality English language instruction with a focus on developing listening and speaking skills. To complement the language learning in the classroom, students also gain understanding of the culture in Canada and on Vancouver Island through the recreational activities and daytrips, which are part of the Summer & Winter programming. ELCP Program Features: 4 start dates – July, August, mid-January or February; 3 levels of English instruction – developing, intermediate, or advanced; 20 hours of English language instruction per week; Integrated skills development in reading, writing, listening, and speaking; small classes with highly qualified, friendly, and approachable teachers; language labs and a wide variety of learning materials; social and cultural activities and group day trips; optional regional tours to explore Canada’s west coast; farewell social and certificate of completion. Vancouver Island University offers a number of scholarships for new international students at the undergraduate level. Students are considered for scholarships at the time of admission, based on their submitted transcripts and application supporting documents. The standard deadline for admission to most VIU programs is March 31st, and scholarship selections are determined 6 weeks after this closing date. A separate application for scholarships is not required, as students will be automatically considered if they meet the scholarship criteria. 1. VIU World-Wide Entrance Scholarships are provided to exceptional new long-term academic undergraduate student applicants (not one semester Education Abroad or Exchange students). They are awarded to up to 20 of the top applicants entering in the Fall semester based on entering grades from submitted transcripts. No application necessary. 2. British Columbia High School International Excellence Entrance Scholarship is provided to all International student applicants who have applied to attend VIU in their graduating year from a British Columbia High School with a Dogwood Certificate. Highest average in combined marks of English 12 (combined provincial and school mark), social Studies 11 and Math 11 (Principles or applications). Awarded as a tuition credit at Vancouver Island University in their second academic semester. No application necessary. 3. VIU International Undergraduate Regional Scholarships are awarded to International students applying for entry into the first year of an undergraduate academic program. The award is based upon the entered grades from submitted High School transcripts. No application is necessary. 4. British Columbia Offshore School Entrance Scholarship is awarded to all international student graduates from BC Offshore schools as a tuition credit at Vancouver Island University in their second academic semester. The Department of Clinical Science of University of Bergen invites applications for the Full-time permanent position as Researcher. Candidates must have training from translational science, preferentially from cancer research. Documented experience from international collaborations using high throughput methods is required. The candidate will be responsible for generation and analyses of sequencing data, from both RNA and DNA. An integrated workflow will be established including both known tools and tools developed on demand when relevant. The researcher will take part in sample preparation, processing and final analysis of data. The researcher may also take a role in validation of genetic findings and in functional studies and treatment evaluation in preclinical model systems. A research stay abroad may become relevant during the period. Candidates must hold a relevant Norwegian PhD or equivalent doctoral degree within areas of molecular biology or genetics; experience in analyses of “high-throughput” sequencing data, counseling, teaching, writing manuscripts and preferentially also grant applications; have personal skills, including abilities to work independently and cooperate within a research group; be motivated and responsible, and also have a great work capacity and enthusiasm for research; be fluent in written and oral English and Norwegian; experience with international collaboration is an advantage. The Department of Biological Sciences of University of Bergen invites applications for the PhD position in Macroecology/Palaeoecology. Candidates must have a Master's degree or the equivalent within biogeography, ecology, or related fields relevant to the PhD project, or must have submitted his/her master's thesis for assessment prior to the application deadline. It is a condition of employment that the master's degree has been awarded. The successful candidate should feel comfortable adopting multi-disciplinary approaches between macroecology/biogeography and palaeoecology, enjoy the challenge of working with large data-sets, and have strong interest in understanding patterns of ecological and human processes in mountains on short and long time scales, must be able to work independently and in a structured manner, and have the ability to cooperate with others within HOPE’s consortium as well as within the EECRG, and to follow through challenging ideas, have pro-active problem-solving skills will be highly valued in the candidate, proficiency in both written and oral English. The successful candidate must have knowledge and experience of quantitative analyses of ecological or palaeoecological data (preferably using the statistical software R), as well as documented skills in one or more research fields relevant to the position; experience with large databases and some experience with geospatial analysis software, such as in ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS or R. The position may be devided into two part-time positions (50 %). The applicant must state whether one wishes a full-time position or a part-time position (50 %). Applicants must have a relevant Norwegian doctorate or corresponding qualifications, and be a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. The successful candidate will be teaching general and basic clinical skills within the fields of gynecology and obstetrics, and teach/supervise bachelor- master- and PhD-students at the department in medicine, nutrition and pharmacy as well as participate in other tasks at the department. Applicants should have substantial research leadership experience as well as experience in coordinating research activities and strategic research planning. Proven willingness and ability to cooperate will be of great importance in the evaluation process and will be important in teaching, research, coordination, supervision and clinical collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Haukeland University Hospital. The teaching language will normally be English and Norwegian. The Faculty of Medicine of University of Bergen invites applications for two open positions as Postdoctoral Fellow. The positions will be affiliated with the department the project naturally falls under. The successful candidate will be appointed for a period of three (3) years in full time (100 %) position. The purpose of the position is the building of competence by means of further development of research work to the extent that a higher level than what is possible within an ordinary PhD program is reached. The main goal of the position is to qualify the successful candidate for professional top positions. Applicants must present proposals for projects for the qualifying work. The project description must also include a work plan. It is a condition that the successful candidate completes the project during the employment period. Applicants must have completed a Norwegian PhD or equivalent foreign education, or have their doctoral thesis approved within the closing date of the application. It is a condition for appointment that the disputation is completes and approved before appointment. The Postdoctoral Fellow must be fluent in oral and written English. The Faculty of Medicine of University of Bergen invites applications for the PhD position (10 positions). Five (5) positions are open PhD-grants. They are intended for applicants with Masters’ degree education (or equivalent) relevant for research areas at the faculty. The positions are full-time (100 %) positions and the candidates will be appointed for a period of four (4) years or max 4 months after completed the PhD-degree, if this is achieved within a shorter time than four years. The positions include 25 % required duties such as teaching, exam work or supervision, depending on the demands at the department. Five (5) PhD-positions are intended for applicants that have participated in The Medical Student Research Program. In connection with these positions, candidates are employed on a quota basis, requiring applicants with a completed medical degree (cand.med.) or a Master`s degree in odontology (cand.odont.). These positions are only available for participants who have completed the Medical Student Research Program. Candidates must enter upon the position directly after the completion of their degree. Candidates who graduate during fall 2018 enter upon the position 1 February 2019, candidates who graduate during spring 2019 enter upon the position 1 September 2019. The successful candidates are employed in a full time (100 %) position for a period of three (3) years, where the time for a completed training component in the organized research training (PhD program) will be deducted, or until max 4 months after completed PhD-degree if this is completed earlier than within the three years.
