St. Petersburg and Chongqing will sign an education cooperation agreement

The leaders of the education authorities of St. Petersburg and Chongqing, one of the largest cities of the People’s Republic of China, will develop and sign a cooperation agreement. Such intention aroused during the Committee on Education meeting that took place on April 25, 2019.

A delegation headed by the Deputy Director General of the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission Mr. Deng Rui arrived on a business trip to St. Petersburg from China. The delegation also included heads of educational institutions.

Chinese colleagues were met by the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Yuri Solyanikov, heads of departments and principals of schools where the Chinese language and the culture study activities are organized.

The parties exchanged information on the main features of the educational systems of St. Petersburg and Chongqing and came to the conclusion that it would be expedient to establish direct contacts between educational institutions. Cooperation is supposed to be developed in a number of directions. First of all, the organization of teacher exchanges for the advanced training of the Chinese language teachers in Russia and teachers of the Russian language in China.

The discussion participants proposed to organize student exchanges during vacation periods, visits of delegations from Russia and China to participate in forums and professional conferences, joint training programs for vocational education teachers.

Directions for further interaction will be fixed in the cooperation agreement which is planned to be signed by the end of this year.
