The advertised positions are linked to the profiling measure RECLAS– Research Collegium for Language in Changing Society that is a joint venture by the Department of Language and Communication Studies and the Centre for Applied Language Studies. RECLAS builds on a view of language as dynamic, social and societal. It brings together following research areas: research on language learning, teaching and assessment; critical sociolinguistics and discourse studies; research on language and education policies, as well as their theoretical and methodological development. Candidates are expected to conduct internationally high quality research on some of the RECLAS research areas and especially at their intersections, to advance the research field of applied linguistics in collaboration with the other researchers in profiling area and be active in international research networks. Considering the career phase, the candidates must have strong track record in research and teaching in the area of applied language studies. Profound and broad methodological expertise as well as experience in multidisciplinary research are considered an asset. An appointee to the position of Visiting Professor is expected to currently hold a full Professorship of permanent nature. The postdoctoral researcher will work in the research group of Associate Professor, Academy Research Fellow Anna Kuparinen within the Academy of Finland / ERC financed projects. The tasks involve research concerning development of food web models for eco-evolutionary dynamics of aquatic ecosystems, associated teaching, and potential supervison of graduate and doctoral students. Candidates should be highly motivated postdoctoral researchers interested in developing modelling tools for complex aquatic food-web and ecosystem dynamics and applying them to research questions related to eco-evolutionary dynamics, harvesting/disturbances, and environmental variations experienced by aquatic species, communities, and ecosystems. The ideal candidate is expected to have, or be about to obtain, PhD in theoretical ecology/evolutionary biology, mathematics, statistics, or computational sciences (or any other relevant field as long as the skill set is suitable).
