Awards and achievements. The students are winners and laureates of all-Russian and international conferences and regional student work contests. The second place in the team event of the All-Russian student Olympiad "Machine Parts and Design Basics" in 2020. Active participants in scientific engineering and innovative project contests such as UMNIK and "Top 100 Best Engineers of Russia."

Teaching staff. Includes two Professors, Doctors of Technical Sciences, 11 Associate Professors, Candidates of Engineering Sciences. Leading specialists of partner machine-building companies from the real sector of the economy are involved in teaching.

Facilities and resources. State-of-the-art software for CAD, CAM and CAE design (Siemens NX, Solidworks, Kompas 3D), numerically controlled engineering equipment, robotized flexible automated production complexes.

Research. The main directions of the Department's research activity: research of the processes of shaped surfaces formation during processing on machines with numerical control (CNC), cut layer deformation and loading of tool blades control, assessment of tool performance during non-stationary cutting on CNC machines, development of integrated diagnostic systems and control of processes on CNC machines, modeling of processes and adjustment of shaping modes.

Education. Practical module learning in cooperation with leading industrial companies, project approach, work in smaller groups. Network interaction with partner universities for mastering skills of working on modern equipment that is not available at the university.

Strategic partners. Tyumenstalmost, GMS Neftemash, GMS Sibneftemash, Tyumen Experimental Factory of Geophysical Instrument Construction, GROM, Tyumenskie Motorostroiteli.

Competitive advantages. State-of-the-art computer technologies are used in the educational process, as well as additive technologies and systems of automated design. Teachers have yearly advanced training and retraining, are active participants in scientific activity of the Department and university, improving the innovative activity. All graduates get employed at major machine-building companies.
