Achievements and awards. The program underwent state accreditation in 2020 and professional-public accreditation (the Association for Engineering Education in Russia) in 2017. This program is marked with the European quality label EUR-ACE.

Students are participants of the annual UMNIK contest; the annual International scientific conference of students, postgraduate students and young scientists “Perspektiva (Prospect);”

the open selective university championship “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” in the competencies: Engineering CAD Design; Prototyping; etc.

Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is 77%. The department employs four Doctors of Sciences. The representatives of top regional machine building enterprises are engaged in the development and implementation of the educational program.

Facilities and resources. NCFU has four learning and research laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, the research center for reliability and strength of materials and the laboratory of the inter-institute resource center for 3D-modeling and prototyping.

Research. The research areas: use of neural networks in production processes; volumetric pulsed laser hardening of materials; lifetime improvement of high-load compression springs, etc.

Education. Active and interactive teaching models, distance education technologies are used. Students have access to the following electronic library systems: University Library ONLINE; IPRbooks; Biblio-online.ru.

Strategic partners. Industrial enterprises: Signal, Stavropol Piston Ring Factory – Stapri, Neptune, Stavropol Machine Tool Works, Elektroavtomatika, etc.; companies ASCON and Autodesk CIS, top manufacturers of CAD, simulation and computer-generated graphics systems.

International projects and programs. Students participate in academic mobility programs: DAAD (Germany), GE4 (France, Spain, Austria, Malaysia, etc.), national scholarship programs of Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Norway.

Competitive advantages. Graduates can carry out the following activities: design and engineering and research activities using CAD technologies; engineering and manufacturing activities using state-of-the-art CAM/CAPP technologies; organizational and management activities based on PDM systems; operational activity using CALS technologies.

Assistance and support for foreign students and teachers. Internationalization of the educational and research process is one of NCFU's top priorities and is a strategically important vector of the university development. NCFU established the Department of International Cooperation.
