Achievements. The program has been recognized many times as one of the best educational programs of innovative Russia.

Teaching staff. Training is provided by 14 departments and over 20 teachers, 80% of whom have academic degrees of Doctors and Candidates of Sciences. There are six Master’s programs.

Learning outcomes. Students learn biotechnological processes and production in compliance with national and international laws and regulations and learn how to develop scientific and technical documentation.

Facilities and resources. In cooperation with the Saint Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums and the Biocad company, the university established the Research and Education Center of Molecular and Cell Technologies to complete the tasks related to qualitative and quantitative analysis of protein molecules, in particular, proteomic analysis of body fluids, secretion of nucleic acids, determination of gene expression, genotyping, analyze biological samples using immunochemical methods, cultivate prokaryotic and eukaryotic biological objects and comprehensively describe them.

Research is conducted to find technological solutions for the development of biomedical cell products and gene therapy products, production of new cellular models for testing advanced therapy medicinal products using genetic engineering, development and improvement of production technologies of active pharmaceutical substances (APS), creation of new producer strains of BAS, molecular mechanisms of implementation of pathological processes aimed at identifying targets for the development of new APS.

Competitive advantages. The program is a unique program that trains biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry specialists. Graduates are in high demand in the Russian Federation.

Career prospects and employment. Among the graduates are biopharmaceutical industry heads at different levels, heads and staff of R&D centers and laboratories, biology and environmental safety assurance specialists, biotechnology process validation specialists, heads and leading specialists of microbiology and biochemistry laboratories.
