Achievements. The program successfully underwent state accreditation in 2020 and professional-public accreditation carried out by the Association for Engineering Education of Russia in 2017.
The department students are winners of the All-Russian Student Olympiad in Health and Safety (Moscow, Bauman Moscow State Technical University), the UMNIK contest of the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology.
The project in the field of unmanned aerial vehicle navigation systems with Safety Basics, joint projects with Science and Technology Center Rosseti of Federal Grid Company of the Unified Energy System.
Teaching staff. The program is delivered by over 20 teachers. 100% have academic degrees.
Facilities and resources include 12 laboratories with special equipment. There is an actively working specialized department of Technosphere Safety established in cooperation with Presidential Cadet School.
Research. The promising research area of the department development is the application of unmanned aerial vehicles for the prevention, detection and containment of emergency situations at the early stages of their occurrence and spread. The department conducts research on such projects as The Study of microclimate parameters and comfortable environment at a workplace; assessment of fire safety in non-residential buildings; safety monitoring of infrastructure facilities in the oil and gas industry, etc.
Education. Teachers use various technologies, including research technologies and ICT, project activity. You can study some disciplines online.
Strategic partners. Research is conducted to benefit the Russian Emergencies Ministry and its regional organizations.
International projects and programs. NCFU implements joint scientific projects with Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland), Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy (Bulgaria). The department takes part in the Falling Walls Lab Stavropol program supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Every year students are sent abroad for internships and study placements.

Assistance and support for international students and teachers. NCFU seeks cooperation for sharing experience in managing engineering processes and ensuring their safety. Over 200 students from CIS and other foreign countries are studying at NCFU's Institute of Engineering.
