Accreditation. The program successfully underwent state accreditation in 2020. In 2017, the program underwent professional-public accreditation (the Association for Engineering Education in Russia) for five years.
Awards and achievements. The UMNIK grant on the topic “Development of an autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle with a pneumatic mechanical device for delivery of special capsules with a fire-extinguishing agent to prevent and recover emergencies” (2021). Participation in the third (final) stage of the All-Russian Student Olympiad on Health and Safety at Bauman Moscow State Technical University, 2012 – the team event winner, 2018 – the special diploma “For the Will to Win.”
Teaching staff. The program is delivered by the teachers holding academic degrees and titles. The program director is the Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor at the Department of Protection in Emergency Elena Rafaelevna Abdulina. She has an honorary title of Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation.
Facilities and resources. The department has eight specialized laboratories, including the laboratory of radiation, chemical and biological protection, the laboratory of rescue operations, and others. The mode of study is full-time, the language of instruction is Russian, using distance learning technologies and e-learning.
Research. Simulation of emergencies at explosion/fire hazardous facilities; the use of UAVs to prevent and recover emergencies; technogenic and environmental safety of urban lands.
Competitive advantages. The program focuses on training Masters using innovative project methods, with the involvement of employers and social partners. There are e-learning elements.
Employers and employment. The university concludes agreements with the top regional employers in the field of study. The types of partnership are internships, employment, participation in developing and modernizing the program. Possible professions for graduates are safety and risk analyst, occupational safety engineer, fire safety engineer, industrial safety engineer, safety engineer, technical supervision engineer, environmental safety engineer, state supervision and control inspector, industrial safety manager, lifeguard, environmental safety expert, specialist in the field of the learning and upbringing process in general and professional education.
