Achievements and awards. The program underwent state accreditation in 2020.
Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is 86.11% (9% have Doctor of Science degrees). The teaching staff includes Honored Workers of Education of the RF and Honored Workers of Higher Professional Education of the RF, Merited Inventor of the USSR as well as a member of the International Informatization Academy. The representatives of the Stavropol Search and Rescue Team of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Stavropol Territory, the Rescue and Firefighting Service of the Stavropol Territory are also engaged in the educational process.
Facilities and resources. The educational and research process is implemented in 12 laboratories with special equipment: "Occupational Safety," "Emergency-Rescue Training: Rescue Technologies in Complex Environments," "Fundamentals of Health and Safety," etc.
Research. The main research areas: application of unmanned aerial vehicles for prevention and response to emergency situations; simulation of man-made emergency situations; technogenic and environmental safety of urban lands; innovative pedagogy in the field of health and safety, etc.
Education. The department trains highly qualified personnel for studying the issues of ensuring human security in today’s context, developing a comfortable technosphere for human life and activity, minimizing the man-made impact on the environment, preserving human life and health using state-of-the-art engineering tools and methods for control and prediction.
Strategic partners. The Stavropol Search and Rescue Team (the branch of the North Caucasus Regional Rescue Team of the Russian Emergencies Ministry), the Chief Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Stavropol Territory, the Rescue and Firefighting Service of the Stavropol Territory, the Rescue Service of Stavropol, the Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Committee of Stavropol City Administration.
Competitive advantages. The teaching staff is highly qualified. Employers participate in the implementation of educational programs using training facilities of organizations. The department established the student fire and rescue team Poisk (Search). Its members represent the university in competitions, participate in emergency rescue operations. Students are the winners of the All-Russian Student Olympiad in Fundamentals of Health and Safety (Moscow, Bauman Moscow State Technical University) in the team event; the winners of the contest held by the UMNIK Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology.
