Awards and achievements of the educational program. Official state accreditation (2015). The teachers of the department apply for grants and participate in contests of different levels.

Teaching staff. One Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctors and Candidates of Sciences. The heads of specialized enterprises are also engaged in the educational process. The teachers get awards from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and Youth of the Stavropol Territory.

University partners within the educational program. Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the High-Mountain Geophysical Institute, the Stavropol Territorial Hydrometeorological Center, Monocrystal (the leading supplier of sapphire), the Signal plant, the Kislovodsk Solar Observatory, the Main (Pulkovo) Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Students' and alumni's achievements. Students carry out research work within the Physics of Magnetic Nanosystems and the Thermal Physics and Molecular Physics scientific schools, the Physics of Optical Phenomena research area, the Geophysics and Astrophysics research and education center. Students regularly participate in all-Russian and international conferences The best students are holders of prestigious scholarships. Alumni hold managerial positions at the largest enterprises and scientific organizations of the Stavropol P Territory and the North Caucasus Federal District.

Facilities and resources. Research laboratories, the astrophysical observatory, the weather station and classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art and unique equipment. Within cooperation framework, the department uses production and scientific facilities of specialized enterprises and organizations.

Opportunities for students. Students choose the courses they are interested in within their field of study. They have an opportunity to participate in academic exchange programs between federal universities and to study abroad. Master graduates can pursue their postgraduate studies in the fields of Physics and Astronomy (majors: Astrophysics and Stellar Astronomy; Electrophysics, Electrophysical Facilities; Condensed Matter Physics; Thermal Physics and Thermology), Earth Sciences (Atmosphere and Hydrosphere Physics).

Alumni are in demand as experts in various physical systems, their functioning, physical, engineering and other technologies.
