Programme presentation. “Aircraft engineering” is a major training course of specialists for one of the key sectors of the Russian economy. Demand for specialists is connected with their competencies in the sphere of processing of modern construction materials, assembling aircraft planes and working with high-technology equipment.

The laboratory fund of NTSU comprises working models of airplanes and helicopters (Su-27, Mi-8), and aircraft constructions and technologies docks. The University has its own terminal classrooms which are supplied with the state-of-the-art software as NX, Teamcenter, CATIA, SmarTeam, SPRUT. The study programme includes classes in the resource centre equipped with modern CNC machine tools.

Teaching staff. The Programme is implemented by 9 Doctors of Sciences and 15 Candidates of Sciences. The study process involves leading specialists of the JSC “Sukhoi Company” branch office, Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association named after V.P. Chkalov (NAPO), JSC “NovosibNIAT”, the Corporate University “SUKHOI”, Novosibirsk Center for Training and Certification of Aircraft Staff, SibNIA named after S.A. Chaplygin, the Institute of Thermophysics of SB RAS and the LLC “Sibir Technics”.

The Department of Aircraft and Helicopter Engineering is proud of its graduates N.V. Pustovoy, NSTU rector, V.L. Bagaev, head of the Western Siberian and Territorial Air Transportation Bureau, Y.N. Lipatnikov, managing director and many others.

Competitiveness of students. Graduates of the educational programme possess a wide range of scientific and technical knowledge in the sphere of designing and production of aircraft planes and systems. Students receive fundamental training in physics and mathematics and gain significant practical skills at the University and on its base enterprises – institutes of the Siberian Branch of the RussianAcademy of Sciences, sectoral re-search Institutes and design bureaus.

Interaction with employers. The unique character of specialists’ training consists in the fact that education is conducted in direct contact with the major enterprises-employers. Students are placed for work experience in large organizations of Novosibirsk: NAPO named after V.P. Chkalov, Novosibirsk Aircraft Repair Plant (NARP), Airline Company “Sibir”, LLC “Sibir Technics”, in sectoral research institutes and academic institutes of SB RAS. The field practice at aviation enterprises of Kazan, Voronezh, Moscow, Irkutsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, as well as abroad is held within the programmes of the United Aircraft Corporation.
