Programme presentation. The programme “Chemical Technology” makes the students familiar with history of chemistry and electrochemical production, forms theoretical and practical skills in the sphere of electrochemical production, ecology and research activity. The study process is oriented to using up-to-date technologies in solving educational and professional tasks at all levels, in all spheres; the process is facilitated by the best practice bases of the city and the region.

The Department conducts research into electroplating, chemical sources of electricity, industrial ecology, and methods of mathematical analysis of chemical technology processes.

The Department maintains connections with HEIs of China and France. Three foreign students study the Programme.

Teaching staff. The Department’s teaching staff consists of experienced teachers – Doctors of Sciences M. Mikhalenko, I. Bodrikov, Y. Gunko, V. Rogozhin, I. Grinvald, Y. Kursky, A. Kutyin, S. Gutkovich; Candidates of Sciences V. Bakaev, V. Isaev, V. Kozyrin, O.Kozina, A. Subbotin, L. Bazhan, E. Ivashkin, A. Bachaev, N.Borisova, T.Devyatkina, E.Ananyeva.

Four teachers are awarded the title “Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation” (M. Mikhalenko, I. Bodrikov, E. Ivashkin, A. Bachaev); I. Bodrikov has the title of “Honoured Worker of Science of Russian Federation”; M. Mikhalenko, I. Bodrikov are Academicians of Prokhorov Academy of Engineering Sciences, and E. Ivashkin is a correspondent member.

Competitiveness of students. The average passing grade for the Programme’s applicants is 216. The Department’s students take an active part in international conferences; they publish research articles and register patents.

Annually best students are awarded scholarships of different levels: University, regional scholarships, scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Russian Federation.

Interaction with employers. Enterprises of Nizhny Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod region actively participate in the academic process and research activity of the Department. About 45% of graduation theses are developed by orders of partner-organizations. The partners help the Department in supplying the study process and infrastructure for doing research work with up-to-date equipment.
