Achievements. The program has been recognized many times as one of the best educational programs of innovative Russia.

Teaching staff. Training is provided by 14 departments and over 20 teachers, 80% of whom have academic degrees of Doctors and Candidates of Sciences. There are six Master’s programs. The degree-granting departments are the Department of Dosage Form Technology, the Department of Industrial Pharmaceutical Technology, the Department of Chemical Engineering of Pharmaceutical Substances, the Department of Chemical Engineering Processes and Devices, and the Department of Economics and Management.

Facilities and resources. The university established the REC of Immunobiotechnology at the premises of St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums and the REC of Technology of Recombinant Proteins in cooperation with BIOCAD. The REC of Molecular and Cell Technologies was also established to solve the tasks related to qualitative and quantitative analysis of protein molecules, in particular, proteomic analysis of body fluids, secretion of nucleic acids, determination of gene expression, genotyping, analyze biological samples using immunochemical methods, cultivate prokaryotic and eukaryotic biological objects and comprehensively describe them.

Education. Classes are conducted offline with active participation of industrial partners – representatives of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and related industries. Strategic partners. Biotechnology companies such as Biocad, Geropharm, Samson Med, Research Institute of High Purity Biologicals, the Saint Petersburg Scientific Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums, Microgen, Generium, Binnopharm.

Research is conducted to find technology solutions for the development of biomedical cell products and gene therapy products, production of new cellular models for testing advanced therapy medicinal products using genetic engineering, development and improvement of production technologies of active pharmaceutical substances (APS), creation of new producer strains of BAS, molecular mechanisms of implementation of pathological processes aimed at identifying targets for the development of new APS.

Competitive advantages. The program is a unique program that trains biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry specialists. Graduates are in high demand in the Russian Federation.

Employers and employment. Among graduates are biopharmaceutical industry heads at different levels, heads and staff of R&D centers and laboratories, biology and environmental safety assurance specialists, biotechnology process validation specialists, heads and leading specialists of microbiology and biochemistry laboratories.
