Achievements and awards. The educational program underwent professional-public accreditation in 2015. The level of graduates' professional competence was highly appreciated by organizations and enterprises of environmental engineering and water management.

Teaching staff. The program is delivered by the highly qualified teaching staff including one Doctor of Sciences, Professor, four Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors, three Candidates of Sciences, Assistant Professors as well as the leading practitioners in the field of environmental engineering and water management.

Facilities and resources. To effectively organize the educational processб the department has all necessary classrooms, laboratories, equipment, and technical aids. There are research and learning laboratories of reclamation and agriculture, soil science and geologic engineering, pumps and pumping stations. The laboratory has general-purpose equipment for modeling and computer-aided design of reclamation regimes; there are systems for students' experimental research.

Research. The promising research area developed by the department staff is the state budget theme “A Package of Measures on Rational Use of Water and Land Resources of the Republic of Dagestan.”

Education. The teachers use criterion-oriented and problem-based learning technologies, academic achievement evaluation technologies as well as project method, a teaching system which allows students to acquire knowledge when planning and performing practical tasks that are gradually getting more difficult.

Strategic partners. The university cooperates with the Ministry of Water Management of the Republic of Dagestan, the Western Caspian Basin Water Management Board, Novocherkassk Reclamation Engineering Institute named after A.K. Kortunov of Don State Agrarian University, Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering of Russian State Agrarian University.

International projects and programs. The teachers and students participate in research and development projects for young researchers and research grant competitions. They annually win prestigious awards for their research in international contests such as the International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies “Archimedes,”  in the UMNIK program, and others.
