Teaching staff. The program is delivered by highly qualified teachers holding academic degrees. All of them are members of creative unions. Many of them cooperate with major Russian publishing houses such as Machaon, Speech, VITA NOVA, etc.
Facilities and resources. Well-equipped classrooms and computer classrooms with continuous internet access and state-of-the-art software are at the teachers’ disposal.
Education. Training of prospective graphic artists combines the traditional study of the disciplines common to all art HEIs, such as drawing, painting, composition, with the fundamental study of editing and publishing processes.
Teachers use modern teaching approaches and strategies: project and research methods, seminars, role plays, business learning games, information and communication technologies, the Portfolio innovative evaluation system. Students’ independent work in classrooms, laboratories of the institute, and at home is of particular importance. It helps develop each student’s abilities. Prospective specialists learn how to independently make decisions and work in the professional environment.
Strategic partners. The Union of Artists of Russia, publishing houses Machaon (Moscow), VITA NOVA, Speech, the Russian Collection of Saint Petersburg, as well as the Center of Book and Graphic Arts gallery and the GALART advertising and publishing company.
International projects and programs. The participants of international academic mobility programs share professional experience and give open lectures and master classes. The department regularly holds personal exhibitions of teachers and students' works, participates in international and all-Russian exhibitions, festivals, contests, biennials in graphics: the International Biennial of Illustration in Bratislava, the Tallinn Illustrations Triennial “The Power of Pictures,” the International Festival of Arts in Turku (Finland), the contests “The Book of the Year” and “The Image of the Book – Non Fiction.”
