Awards and achievements. The students are winners and laureates of conferences and scientific paper contests of all-Russian and international levels, including UMNIK. The teachers have Teacher of the Year awards.
Teaching staff. The educational process is carried out by scientific degree holders (including two Doctors of Sciences) and representatives of the real sector of the economy — workers of the industry's leading companies.
Facilities and resources. 12 learning laboratories, including a specialized one and the research learning one. The laboratories are fitted with a set of electrical measuring equipment, as well as magnetometric, acoustic, acoustic-emission and radiation devices. A tensile testing machine, an in-house designed and manufactured biaxial tension test bench, a vacuum furnace are available. The laboratory of special disciplines is equipped with computers on which numerical modeling of physical fields, modeling of devices and systems is performed. New stands for performing scientific research by students and teachers are designed and produced.
Research. The staff of the department headed by Professor V. Novikov, in cooperation with students, carry out research works in the field of development of methods and devices for monitoring and diagnostics by magnetic, electrical and acoustic methods. One of the promising areas is the development of express methods for monitoring the degree of degradation of steels during their operation. Also, Professor Y. Pakharukov conducts research in the area of using planar carbon nanostructures to increase the oil flow rate.
Education. The active educational approach is implemented which implies students' involvement in real projects and research in the process of preparing their initiative, course and graduation papers. This experience allows students to successfully study at a master's course at the universities of Tyumen, Tomsk, Yekaterinburg, St.Petersburg, and other cities of Russia. As a result, active students co-author scientific papers, participate in conferences and contests with great success. Also, students receive real production and technology education in practical module format at partner companies.
