Awards and achievements. The program was ranked among the best educational programs of innovative Russia in 2021. Students are winners of the Olympiad, the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship, the international scientific school “Promising Areas of Physico-Chemical Biology and Biotechnology” of the Shemyakin and Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, participants of the Sirius Educational Center.

Teaching staff. The program is delivered by 58 highly qualified teachers, including 30 Candidates of Sciences, 17 Doctors of Sciences, one Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The heads of renowned scientific schools, laureates of the Russian
Government Award in Science and Technology, textbook authors take part in training. The employers who are leading specialists in biology, biochemistry, radiobiology are also engaged in the teaching process.

Facilities and resources. Microscopes, centrifuges, culture and virology cabinets, DNA cabinets, PCR cabinets, cell cultutes, chicken embryos, laboratory animals, amplifiers, transilluminators, hemiluminometers, autoclaves, dry heat sterilizers.

Education. Practice-oriented training. Visualization lectures, problem-based lectures and seminars, discussion seminars, case study, problem-solving business games, research activities, e-learning and distance learning technologies applied in the format of webinars
and asynchronously using the resources of the academy’s educational portal.

Research is conducted in the field of wildlife, the use of biological systems for economic and medical purposes, environmental protection, development and biosecurity monitoring of new medicinal products. The academy also conducts other studies using living organisms and biological systems of different levels of organization.

Competitive advantages. This faculty is Russia’s only faculty that trains specialists in veterinary medicine and biology. There are leading scientific schools of virology, radiation biology, immunology. Graduates work at research institutes, enterprises of different forms
of incorporation, educational institutions of secondary and higher education. They hold leadership positions at major enterprises and government agencies.

Employers and employment. 98% of graduates are employed. The academy’s cooperation with diagnostic and research laboratories, biological enterprises, agro-industrial research institutes and the Russian Academy of Sciences creates the opportunities for students to improve their professional skills under production conditions, participate in real projects and in the development of graduation theses of high scientific quality and practical relevance, and later find a job in their degree field. Students can combine their study and work, starting from the third year of study.
