Achievements and awards. The educational program underwent professional-public accreditation and was the winner of the UMNIK program in 2015.

Teaching staff. The program is delivered by the teachers (Doctors and Candidates of Sciences) who are leading specialists in the industry of micro- and nanotechnologies of the Republic of Dagestan. Honored Workers of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation are also engaged in the educational process.

Facilities and resources. The department has state-of-the-art equipment, electronic and computer devices, satellite television systems, state-of-the-art communications and navigation systems. The teachers use research and academic and research laboratories and centers for a number of courses and special subjects: a silicon carbide-based ceramics sintering plant operating at 2500°С; the Auger spectrometer; a magnetron sputtering system; the NTEGRA atomic-force microscope. The following scientific divisions are involved: the department of growth of semiconductor materials, the laboratory of molecular-beam epitaxy of compound semiconductors А3В5, А4В4 and their solid solutions.

Research. The main research areas include the following: study of physicochemical basics of production technologies of microelectronic, nanoelectronic, optoelectronic, acoustoelectronic, and microsensor devices; development of current issues in condensed matter physics, in particular, physics of semiconductors and dielectrics, physics of low-dimensional systems that contribute to expansion of the element base of microelectronics and nanoelectronics; materials (silicon carbide, aluminium nitride, diamond-like carbon) and their compositions for extreme electronics, and others.

Education. Masters are trained in the Electronic Devices major. Students have access to the devices of the laboratories of the research institute “Microelectronics and Nanotechnologies” with state-of-the-art process and analytical equipment that significantly improves the quality of research.

Strategic partners. To implement the unique properties of ceramic materials, the university draws on the workforce capacity of the Department of Advanced Research Development at National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.

International projects and programs. The university participates in the International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies “Archimedes,” the International exhibition "Measurements, World, Person," the UMNIK program, etc.
