Accreditation. State accreditation. Professional-public accreditation.

Awards and achievements. Every year students get awards in international contests, including the European ISA Contest for the best student research paper, the contest held by the SPIE/OSA student chapter, and others.

Teaching staff. More than 90% of the teachers hold academic degrees and (or) academic titles, carry out research and teaching and guiding activities and perform the functions of personal supervisors of student research (Bachelor’s program) and research (Master’s program). More than 20% of the teachers at the department work for the specialized design organizations, which largely determines the real practical focus on aerospace engineering of research topics offered to students.

Facilities and resources. The department has nine specialized laboratories fitted with state-of-the-art equipment. The most utilized research facilities are the facility based on the HeatCold-Moisture unit, the nanoeducator facility, the universal vibration testing facility, the thermal imaging research facility, the probe station-based facility, and others.

Strategic partners. Avangard, the Impulse research and production association, All-Russian Research Institute of Radio Equipment, the Positron research and production company, organizations and enterprises of Leninets Holding Company. The department closely cooperates with Russian universities as part of the learning and teaching workshops “Design and Technology of Electronic Instrumentation” and “Instrumentation Technology” based on mutual participation in the universities’ scientific student events such as Olympiads, conferences, and contests).

Research. Every year the department updates the lists of students research topics for Bachelor’s students and research topics for Master’s students. A separate list is compiled for the topics of real papers done at the experimental design bureau of radioelectronic systems. In 2022, 23 articles out of 52 scientific publications of the department were published by the teachers together with the students. Approximately 30 articles every year are written as independent scientific publications. Other types of student research include sending applications to participate in the Russian Internet Forum with students’ participation, applications for inventions, utility models, and software products, development of cooperation with the SPIE/OSA student chapters, participation in the international conferences organized by SPIE and OSA, in the annual International conference “Wave Electronics and its Indexation” (WECONF 2021 IEEE).

Competitive advantages. Strong emphasis on specialized professional training with ultimate elimination of ineffective standardized disciplines. A high level of research management and effective organizational and methodological support for academic and research work of students. Modern resources ensuring a high professional level. High demand for Master’s graduates at many organizations of the cluster. Classes for Master students start at 6 p.m., which allows them to work full-time at the relevant organizations.

Employers and employment. Graduates are employed by the top enterprises and organizations of the regional cluster of information technology, radio electronics, instrument engineering, means of communication and infocommunications.
