Accreditation. State accreditation. Professional-public accreditation.
Awards and achievements. The programs successfully underwent state accreditation in 2018 and professional-public accreditation carried out by the Leningrad Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2020. Two students of the Master’s program were awarded winner’s certificates in the competition “I am a Specialist” in 2020. The programs were included in the reference book Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia 2021-2022.
Teaching staff. Ninety-four percent of the teachers at the department hold academic degrees and titles. Among them are five Doctors of Engineering Sciences, two of whom are invited from the real sector of the economy (the defense industry).
Facilities and resources. Classrooms with multimedia equipment, computer classrooms with modern software, unique research and laboratory equipment, modern laser facilities, optical systems and facilities, two 3D robot kits, a system of information transfer according to MIMO technology.
Education. The department trains process designers for design and support of manufacturing optical and optoelectronic devices and systems for the aerospace industry. These specific features determine the philosophy and methodology of the educational program. Research. The department’s research covers the most promising areas of modern optical instrument engineering such as radiophotonics, development of 3D scanners, optical surface treatment systems.

SUAI’s strategic partners are the Piramida research and production enterprise, Radiofizika, Chelyabinsk Radio Manufacturing Plant, Radioavionika, Concern Granit-Electron, Akvamarin, Rubezh Tekhno, Lianozovo Electromechanical Plant, All-Russian Research Institute of Radio Equipment.
