Accreditation. The program successfully underwent state accreditation in 2020. In 2017, the program underwent professional-public accreditation (the Association for Engineering Education of Russia) for five years.

Awards and achievements. Students take an active part in regional, all-Russian and international conferences, are laureates of the Stavropol Territory Governor Science and Innovation Award for talented young people of the Stavropol Territory “Award 2020;” the winners of the innovative project contest as part of the 4th All-Russian Forum “Science of the Future—Science of the Young” and the 3rd International Research Conference “Science of the Future;” the bronze medalists of the final round of the Open International Student Internet Olympiad on Chemistry and Physics; the bronze medalists of the All-Russian Engineering Case Championship SWSU Case Championship 2018; the prize-winners in the Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials subsection in the 16th Annual Youth Conference “South of Russia: Challenges, Discoveries, Prospects;” the prize-winners of the contest of young scientists’ research projects aimed to implement the priority areas of the Strategy for Science and Technology Development of the Russian Federation; the winners of the contest of students and young scientists’ research papers “To the Top of Science” in the New Materials and Chemical Engineering category; the winner of the NCFD Best Startup Project contest; the frequent winners of the program supporting talented young people (the UMNIK program of the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology).

Teaching staff. The program is delivered by nine teachers. Over 85% hold an academic degree of Candidate of Sciences. The faculty develops academic staff mobility. The researchers from other Russian cities are invited.

Facilities and resources. State-of-the-art devices for express analysis of composition and properties of food raw material, spectrophotometry, cryoscopy, refractometry, high-performance liquid chromatography, microscopy and microcomputer tomography, determination of the antioxidant activity of biological objects, pilot plants for baro- and electro-membrane fractionation of food raw material. Students undertake work placements, pre-graduation and research internships at meat and dairy industry enterprises.

Education. A materials scientist is a scientist and engineer who conducts fundamental research on materials, including nanomaterials, develops production and research technologies for them, studies the issues of standardization, certification, production and recycling of materials. While studying, materials scientists conduct research on the materials that are already in place, find new areas of application for them, improve the safety and sustainability of materials, processes of their production and recycling. Much attention is given to the preparation of materials science students for management activities. Additionally, students study management basics, economics, manufacturing company management.

Employers and employment. Most of the research is conducted to benefit enterprises such as Monocrystal, the Signal radio manufacturing plant of Stavropol, the LUM research and production company, the Optron-Stavropol power semiconductor manufacturer.
