NRU “BelSU” is the region's only university to train school teachers for all subjects, top-level and mid-level health professionals, journalists, managers, economists, lawyers, social workers, international relations experts, linguists, political scientists, translators, psychologists, mining engineers, biotechnologists, pharmacists, IT specialists, and other specialists.
The university cooperates with dozens of foreign universities, delivering more than 20 joint educational programs that result in double degrees. As part of academic exchanges, BelSU students undertake study placements at partner universities in various countries.
Several hundred enterprises are student internship facilities.

For international students, NRU “BelSU” has a system of information services and centers helping to adapt more effectively and quickly:

Extracurricular activities help students learn Russian better, enrich their vocabulary, and develop their communication skills.
Every year, with support from Rossotrudnichestvo, NRU “BelSU” holds the International Olympiad “It's Time to Speak Russian!” that unites international students and applicants from more than 40 countries.
The winners pursue the Master's program in Philology. Russian as a Foreign Language for free.

Russian language classes, events dedicated to the culture and history of Russia and our countries, the teachers' consultations on difficult topics or on questions that international students have, meetings at the Russian Speaking Club, discussions of movies at the club “In the World of Cinema”, conversations at the literary salon “Among the Countries and Faces”, the hotline of the International Information Center, and many other things at the university, help me study successfully, and, of course, win the Olympiad. I will continue to improve my Russian and develop both personally and professionally. For this purpose, we have favorable conditions and good teachers in Belgorod. The main thing is to be enthusiastic.
Preparatory Department
The department offers pre-university training for foreign citizens to pursue higher education programs such as Bachelor's, Specialist's, Master's, residency, and PhD programs.

Training can be provided online. Mobile electronic systems create an effect of presence in a classroom, which helps communicate interactively and conduct classroom and extracurricular activities. Moreover, there is a Russian language classroom at Agostinho Neto University in Angola.

Since I came to the Preparatory Faculty, I've felt support and help from the teachers, staff, and senior students. I spend a lot of time studying Russian, but not only in the classroom. I read books, learn poems, and write compositions on different topics and essays based on movies, interesting people's interviews, and books. I go to museums and attend meetings with interesting speakers. My teachers help me when I don't understand some words or expressions. They check and correct my texts and comment on how it is better to say something in Russian. The university provides social support by allocating financial aid and helping with employment during vacations. At BelSU, other international students and I feel like a family and at home.

I read a lot about Russia, and its history struck me! When I came to Belgorod, I was worried about my ignorance of the language, but eight months later I could speak Russian well already! My teachers at the Preparatory Faculty and my Russian friends helped me with it. I still keep in touch with them on social media. At university, I not only studied and conducted research but also took an active part in the events held by the dormitory, the student association “Welcome to Russia!”, and the African compatriot association. I was also the leader of the association. Belgorod University helped me not only get an education but also develop my leadership skills, which helped me in my life. Now I am a senior officer at the Department of Research and Competitive Behavior in the market of the Ministry of Finance of Angola and an entrepreneur.
