Teaching staff. High-quality training is provided by skilled teachers who are sound directors-practitioners with long-term work experience, constantly release CD disks, broadcast events, carry out sound amplification of concerts in Russia and abroad.
Russian Gnessin Academy of Music offers some more best educational programs in the field of Culture and Arts.
Academy partners within the educational program. The department has signed cooperation agreements with the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic Society and the Theater Concert Hall—the Palace on the Yauza. For more than 10 years students and teachers of the department have been participating in conventions and educational programs of AES (Audio Engineering Society), the worldwide organization of sound engineers. In 2014 Russian Gnessin Academy of Music in cooperation with AES hosted the IV Central European Student Summit CESS 2014 Moscow. As part of this event the annual Gnessin Sound Workshops are organized for students from Russia and other European countries.
Students’ and alumni’s achievements. Winners of the AES International Competition: A.Mikhlin, the Bronze Medal Award (Germany, 2009), the Silver Medal Award (UK, 2010); D.Gorovaia, the Bronze Medal Award (UK, 2011); N.Nikolaeva, the Bronze Medal Award (UK, 2011), V.Osadchev, the Silver Medal Award (Italy, 2013).
The all-Russian Viktor Babushkin competition of creative works of students majoring in sound engineers: A. Rybakov, the third place (2010); L. Azgaldov, the second place; A. Khlystov, the third place (2011); A. Karkach, the second place; V. Smirnov, the third place (2013).
The alumni of the department work on all top stages of Moscow: the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, the Moscow Philharmonic Society, the Bolshoi Theater, the Stanislavsky Electrotheater, Gratz Opera Theater (Austria), the Pavel Slobodkin Center, the Culture TV channel; collaborate with such sound recording firms as Melody, Pan CLassics, Brilliant Classics, Fancy Music, Naxos, and many others.
Opportunities for students. The Department of Sound Engineering has a training sound recording studio equipped at a high technological level. Students of the department have an opportunity to enter their profession during their studies, they produce sound recordings from concert halls of the academy, which creates unique conditions for in-house work placement of music sound engineers. The fields of alumni’s professional activity are recording studios, theatrical institutions and cinema art institutions, radio and TV studios, concert organizations (philharmonic societies, music theaters), and other cultural institutions.
