Best Educational Programs: TECHNOSPHERE SAFETY

Awards and achievements of the educational program. In 2016 students of the university pursuing the Technosphere Safety educational program won the III place in the Olympiad on Health and Safety at St. PetersburgPolytechnicUniversity named after Peter the Great.

The Bachelor's program is also offered by the Department of Technosphere Safety and the Department of Biotechnology and Technosphere Safety.

Teaching staff. All teachers of the department have academic degrees and titles. Four teachers with an extensive professional experience in civil aviation are employed on a part-time basis.

University partners within the educational program. The department maintains close partnership relations with St. PetersburgPolytechnicUniversity named after Peter the Great, the Special Materials Corp. Research and Production Association, the PulkovoAirport, the PulkovoRegionalDataProcessingCenter, the Northern Capital Gateway Company.

Students’ and alumni’s achievements. The university created conditions for the development of students’ professional competencies in the field of health and operational processes safety of air traffic facilities and air vehicles, reliable and safe operation of the transportation system that allows those alumni who successfully complete a Bachelor’s program in Technosphere Safety to gain advantages on the labor market.

Facilities and resources. The educational process takes place in well-equipped classrooms. Practical training sessions are conducted in the laboratory of manufacturing processes and production safety, which has necessary tools to investigate production factors. Students have an opportunity to observe the equipment applied as measuring devices at production sites.

Non-resident applicants and students entitled to free education get accommodation in the dormitory. There are two gyms for physical culture education classes and a stadium.

Opportunities for students. Students undertake their internship according to the individual educational plan in cooperation with leading organizations and educational institutions which are the university partners. A successful internship helps students get employed by leading transport organizations. After graduation two-thirds of alumni get jobs they are qualified for, hold managerial positions at labor supervision units. The university education opens an opportunity for alumni to work in such a prestigious sector as aviation.

Employment prospects. Graduates work as: health and labor safety specialist, in the field of industrial and fire safety, at testing laboratories, in the Russian Federal Surveillance Service divisions and as employees of executive authorities on labor protection and technical inspection of trade unions, state labor inspectorate on safety issues and authorized workforce representatives.
