Programme presentation. The educational programme “Optical Engineering” provides education and training of highly qualified specialists in the sphere of research, development and organization of equipment and systems production based on optical emission. In the course of study students get profound knowledge in the sphere of the element base of optical engineering (optics, electro-optical and laser technology) and optical and laser technology of production and control of optical, electro-optical elements, equipment and systems, materials for their development.

Due to innovative development of opticophysical technologies and optical engineering the demand for specialists of this educational programme grows rapidly in our country as well as abroad.

Teaching staff. The educational process is carried out in direct contact with the institutes of SB RAS and enterprises of optical industry. Doctors and Candidates of Sciences participate in the teaching process. Among them there is a Laureate of the State Prize and honoured scientists. Teaching is based on the system of The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT).

Interaction with employers. Education of 3rd year students is carried out in the research institutes of SB RAS and leading enterprises of Novosibirsk: The Institute of Automatics and Electrometrics, The Technological Design Institute of Scientific Instrument Engineering, The Institute of Thermophysics, The Institute of Semiconductor Physics, The Institute of Nuclear Physics, The Institute of Laser-Physics, The Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and others. The University and the Department have partnership agreements with The Central Design Bureau of Precision Instrumentation, The Novosibirsk Instrument-Making Plant”, VMK Optoelectronics Company and other innovative enterprises.

Graduates of this educational programme are in high demand and have all the possibilities for self-realization in science, industry and innovative management in Russia and abroad. They work in research institutes of SB RAS and design bureaus, in plants and enterprises of Technopark of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok, small innovative enterprises (VMK Optoelectronics Company, “Medtech”, and “Sigma”).
