Programme presentation. Electronics and Nanoelectronics is a fundamental area of study aimed at research, simulation and maintenance of materials, components, equipment and devices of vacuum, plasma and solid-state electronics. Training is offered in three programmes: Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, Electronic Equipment and Devices, Industrial Electronics.

The Department possesses specialized study and research laboratories equipped with the latest devices used in the academic process and research (e.g. software package TCAD Sentarus produces by Synopys Company). Material and technical resources make it possible to do research at the highest technological level.

Teaching staff. 12 professors, 17 associate professors including ten Doctors and 14 Candidates of Science work at the Department of Semiconductor Devices and Microelectronics. The Department has branches in the Institute of Semiconductor Physics and the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and also at the research and production enterprises of JSC “NPP” Vostok and JSC “NZPP”. There are seven Doctors and six Candidates of Sciences, including a Corresponding Member of RAS I. Neizvestnyi.

Competitiveness of students. The students are active participants of annual research conferences. Every year students win the President’s and Government’s grants, grants of large Russian foundations and foreign enterprises (e.g. Sclumberger). The students’ research and applied work is supported by the Russian foundations, such as “U.M.N.I.K” programme, foundation for support to enterprises in the science and technology sphere.

Interaction with employers. Students are placed for work experience at the region’s enterprises and research institutes of the Siberian Branch of RAS, represented by JSC “NPP Vostok” and JSC “NZPP, Rzhanov Institute of Semiconductor Physics of the Siberian Branch of RAS, Nikolaev Institute if Inorganic Chemistry of the Siberian Branch of RAS, LLC “SibIS”, Private Company RiM.

The demand for the graduates of the programme is always high since for faster development of domestic microelectronics and nanoelectronics we need specialists with theoretical knowledge and practical skills to solve research, engineering, technological and production problems. Training of such specialists is carried out at NSTU.
