Awards and achievements. The program was ranked among the best educational programs of innovative Russia in 2021. Students are winners of the Olympiad, the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship, the international scientific school “Promising Areas of Physico-Chemical Biology and Biotechnology of the Shemyakin and Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, participants of the Sirius Educational Center programs.
Teaching staff. The program is delivered by 26 highly qualified teachers, including ten Candidates of Sciences, nine Doctors of Sciences, one RAS Corresponding Member. Heads of renowned scientific schools, laureates of the Russian Government Award in Science
and Technology, textbook authors take part in teaching. The employers who are leading specialists in biology, biochemistry, biophysics are also engaged in the teaching process.
Facilities and resources. Microscopes, centrifuges, culture and virology cabinets, DNA cabinets, PCR cabinets, cell cultutes, chicken embryos, laboratory animals, amplifiers, transilluminators, hemiluminometers, autoclaves, dry heat sterilizers. Laboratories of the
Department of Radiation Biology and Virology, the Department of Chemistry, laboratories of immuno-biotechnology, immunogenetics and DNA technologies, cell culture, immunochemical studies, biochemistry, biophysics, radiation biology, microbiology.
Education. Practice-oriented training. Visualization lectures, problem-based lectures and seminars, discussion seminars, case study, problem-solving business games, research activities, e-learning and distance learning technologies applied in the format of webinars
and asynchronously using the resources of the academy’s educational portal.
Research is conducted in the field of wildlife, the use of biological systems of different levels of organization, processes of their life activity, their reproduction for economic, veterinary and medical purposes, environmental protection. Research is also conducted in the field of development and biosecurity monitoring of new medicinal products, and other areas using living organisms and biological systems of different levels of organization.
Competitive advantages. This faculty is Russia’s only faculty that trains specialists in veterinary medicine and biology. There are leading scientific schools of virology, microbiology, biophysics, and immunology.
Employers and employment. 98% of graduates are employed. Graduates work at research institutes, enterprises of different forms of incorporation, educational institutions of secondary and higher education. They hold leadership positions at major enterprises and
government agencies. The academy’s cooperation with diagnostic and research laboratories, biological enterprises, agro-industrial research institutes and RAS research institutes creates the opportunities for students to improve their professional skills under production
conditions, participate in real projects and in the development of Master’s graduation theses of high scientific quality and practical relevance, and then gain employment in their degree field. Students can combine their study and work.
