Accreditation. The program successfully underwent state accreditation in 2020.

Awards and achievements. The Crystal Compass National Award of the Russian Geographical Society. The Russian President grant for the state support of leading scientific schools. The RFBR grants. The Russian President and the Russian Government Scholarships (2014, 2015).

Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is over 90%. The teaching staff includes four Doctors of Sciences and over 20 Candidates of Sciences; three teachers hold the title of Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation. The
representatives of the real sector of economy are also engaged in the program delivery.

Facilities and resources. The Research and Education Center of Population and Territorial Planning, the Resource Center for Aerospace and Geoinformation Technologies, the Youth Innovation Center of Geoinformation Systems in Territorial and Cadastre Management
TerraGIS, lecture halls equipped with multimedia, self-access centers, computer classrooms, etc.

Education is provided using distance learning technologies, multimedia technologies, and the project method. The strategic partners as part of the educational program are the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute for Demographic
Research – Branch of the Federal Center of Theoretical and Applied Sociology of the RAS, the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Switzerland), University of Eastern Finland, Central European
University.

Research. The promising research areas are transformation of population reproduction, displacement and lifestyle (including geoinformation monitoring of ethnic, demographic and migration processes). Research is conducted in the priority areas of regional and university development.

Competitive advantages. Students have an opportunity to take a semester study placement at another Russian or foreign university, pursue a PhD degree, undertake internships abroad. Practice-oriented training and early employment is provided.

Employers and employment. Possible positions are map maker, geoinformatics scientist, urbanist, land surveyor, cadastral engineering, geomarketing expert, geonavigator, photonavigator, GIS analyst. The major employers are Kartfond, the Directorate of the
Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr) in the Stavropol Territory, the Federal Service of State Statistics, government agencies, and others.
