Accreditation. State accreditation. In 2022, the program obtained a professional-public accreditation certificate from the All-Russian Public Organization Russian Professorial Assembly.

Awards and achievements. The program was recognized as the best educational program of innovative Russia in 2023. Students are winners of the Olympiad, the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship, the international scientific school “Promising Areas of Physico-Chemical Biology and Biotechnology” of the Shemyakin and Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, participants of the Sirius Educational Center, and participants of the Hackathon “From an Idea to a Prototype.”

Teaching staff. The program is delivered by 58 highly qualified teachers, including 32 Candidates of Sciences, 17 Doctors of Sciences, and one Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The heads of renowned scientific schools, laureates of the Russian Government Award in Science and Technology, and textbook authors take part in teaching. The employers who are leading specialists in biology, biochemistry, and radiobiology are also engaged in the teaching process.

Learning outcomes. Students study in the field of research on wildlife, the use of biological systems for economic, veterinary and medical purposes, environmental protection; in the field of development and biosecurity monitoring of new medicinal products and other biomedical research using living organisms and biological systems of different levels of organization; in the field of conservation ecological technologies.

Facilities and resources. Microscopes, centrifuges, culture and virology cabinets, DNA cabinets, PCR cabinets, cell cultures, chicken embryos, laboratory animals, amplifiers, transilluminators, hemiluminometers, autoclaves, and dry heat sterilizers.

Research is conducted in the field of wildlife, the use of biological systems for economic, veterinary and medical purposes, environmental protection. Research is also conducted in the field of development and biosecurity monitoring of new medicinal products and other fields using living organisms and biological systems of different levels of organization.

Competitive advantages. This faculty is Russia’s only faculty that trains specialists in veterinary medicine and biology. There are leading scientific schools for virology, radiation biology, and immunology. Graduates work at research institutes, enterprises of different forms of incorporation, educational institutions of secondary and higher education. They hold leadership positions at major enterprises and government agencies.

Career prospects and employment. 98% of graduates are employed. The academy’s cooperation with diagnostic and research laboratories, biological enterprises, agro-industrial research institutes and the Russian Academy of Sciences creates the opportunities for students to improve their professional skills under production conditions, participate in real projects and in the development of graduation theses of high scientific quality and practical relevance, and later find a job in their degree field. Students can combine their studies and work, starting from the third year of study.
