Accreditation. State accreditation.
Awards and achievements. The first students were enrolled in 2022. Students are winners of the Olympiad, the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship, the international scientific school “Promising Areas of Physico-Chemical Biology and Biotechnology of the Shemyakin and Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, participants of the Sirius Educational Center programs.
Learning outcomes. Students study in the field of wildlife research, research using biological systems for economic, veterinary and medical purposes; in the field of environmental protection; as well as in the field of teaching at the levels of secondary vocational education, continuing professional education, and higher education in biological sciences.
Facilities and resources. Microscopes, centrifuges, culture and virology cabinets, DNA cabinets, PCR cabinets, cell cultutes, chicken embryos, laboratory animals, amplifiers, transilluminators, hemiluminometers, autoclaves, dry heat sterilizers. The laboratory of the Department of Virology and Microbiology, laboratories of immunobiotechnology, immunogenetics and DNA technologies, cell culture, immunochemical studies, biochemistry, and biophysics.
Research is conducted in the field of wildlife, the use of biological systems of different levels of organization, processes of their life activity, their reproduction for economic, veterinary and medical purposes, environmental protection. Research is also conducted in the field of virology and microbiology; development and biosecurity monitoring of new diagnostic and medicinal products using viruses and microorganisms.
Competitive advantages. This faculty is Russia’s only faculty that trains specialists in veterinary medicine and biology. There are leading scientific schools for virology, microbiology, biophysics, and immunology.
Career prospects and employment. 98% of graduates are employed. Graduates work at research institutes, enterprises of different forms of incorporation, educational institutions of secondary and higher education. They hold leadership positions at major enterprises and government agencies. The academy’s cooperation with diagnostic and research laboratories, biological enterprises, agro-industrial research institutes and RAS research institutes creates the opportunities for students to improve their professional skills under production conditions, participate in real projects and in the development of Master’s graduation theses of high scientific quality and practical relevance, and later find a job in their degree field. Students can combine their studies and work.
