Accreditation. In 2022, the program underwent professional-public accreditation for compliance with the job market requirements and the professional standard 04.005 Tour Guide for five years.

Awards and achievements. In the academic year 2022-2023, the educational program entered the Top 5 Russian faculties and universities for tourism and hospitality in employers’ opinion, according to hh.ru. Our students are winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Dictation on Tourism and Hospitality with international participation, international contests “Creative Tourism: Fulfillment of Tourist Potential of Territories” and “Current State and Development Potential of Literary Tourism,” the youth project competition “We are for Russian Quality!,” and the International Scientific Forum “Young People in Science and Creativity.”

Teaching staff. The program is delivered by the Department of Tourism and Hotel Business that employs highly qualified teachers, including Professors, Doctors of Sciences, Associate Professors, Candidates of Sciences, employers’ representatives, Honored Science Worker of the Russian Federation, an academician and members of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and members of the National Academy of Tourism.

Learning outcomes. The program graduates make popular creative tourist products, organize individual tours, coordinate MICE events, manage the resources and attractiveness of tourist destinations, and promote their recreational opportunities.

Facilities and resources. Specialized classrooms fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, computer classrooms, and a laboratory of media and business communications. Professional software, including SAMO-tour, BNOVO, and TravelLine is used for developing skills in computer-aided management of business processes in tourism.

Research. Students participate in specialized conferences and research paper competitions on a regular basis.

Competitive advantages. The disciplines developing professional competencies are taught solely by employers. Active teaching methods are used, including master classes from the tourist industry representatives, workshops, extramural classes, and testing of sightseeing tour projects during seminars. Students undertake internships at the top tour operators, cruise companies, and travel agency networks. Learning paths are individualized. The faculty creates an environment that helps students create practice-oriented tourist projects and tourist route models with a high potential for their introduction into the tourist companies’ activities. Students have the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree in Tourism at the department.

Career prospects and employment. The employers’ representatives and heads of departments of tourist enterprises give classes and master classes and provide work placements for students and internships for graduates. After successful completion of work placements and internships, students get a job offer.
