Awards and achievements. Students get the Russian President and Russian Government Scholarships, win the contests held by the Committee for Science and Higher Education of the Saint Petersburg Government, have honorary diplomas from the International Society of Automation ISA.
Teaching staff. The institute and department staff has many years’ experience in telecommunications. The department employs two Doctors of Engineering Sciences. The institute staff members have hundreds of research papers published in the leading industry-specific journals and conference proceedings.
Facilities and resources. The department has a laboratory of information transmission networks and systems fitted with state-of-the-art equipment.
Education. The department provides intensive training for specialists in such fields as data processing, means and systems of communications, Internet of Things. The issues of unauthorized access software protection, including local, corporate and computer networks, including the Internet are also studied. The educational programs aim to combine fundamental education and research of students.
Research. The promising research areas are antinoise coding, low-power wide-area networks (LPWAN), wireless network technology 5G, multimedia data processing. Researchers publish research papers, speak at research conferences, register computer programs.

Students participate in research and development projects with the top Russian and foreign partner companies, which promotes deeper learning and makes it possible to engage them in the works done on request of Russian and foreign firms. The program uniqueness lies in the fact that graduates are well trained both in information and communication technologies and information security.

Graduates can get a job at infocommunications and IT companies, including the branch of Radio Research and Development Institute – Leningrad Radio Research and Development Institute, Inteltech, YADRO, YADRO MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES CENTER, Avtomatika-Servis, the Committee for Informatization and Communications of Saint Petersburg, Russian Institute for Power Radioengineering, Laboratory of the Internet of Things.
