Accreditation. State accreditation. Professional-public accreditation.

Awards and achievements. Students get grants from the Committee for Science and Higher Education of the Saint Petersburg and the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology (UMNIK); win the annual European contest for the best student research paper ISA; speak at the international conferences.

Teaching staff. More than 70% of the teaching staff hold academic degrees and academic titles. All teachers carry out research, teaching and guiding and practical activities relevant to the major they teach.

Facilities and resources. Classes are conducted in five specialized laboratories of the Department of Applied Informatics fitted with state-of-the-art computer and multimedia equipment. While teaching students, the resources of the Department of Applied Information and Control Systems established at Concern Granit-Electron are also used.

Education. Training is based on the principle of integration of science and practice. The department provides intensive training for specialists in design and development of software systems; data storage, processing and analysis; implementation of neural systems and machine learning; web programming; technology entrepreneurship; research modeling and planning.

Research. The research areas correspond to the main training areas. The teaching staff supports students’ aspirations to expand their academic horizons by solving theoretical and practice-oriented tasks offered by the SUAI’s industrial partners. The research findings are registered as intellectual property items, presented at conferences and published in the leading journals.

Competitive advantages. The department takes a personalized approach to each student building upon integration of information technology and artificial intelligence.

Employers and employment. Graduates’ competitiveness is proved by the fact that all of them are employed at IT departments of technology companies, including Radar mms research and production enterprise, Concern Granit-Electron, Sberbank, the Samson medical information system, YADRO Company Group, Kaspersky Laboratory, Doctor Web, TimeWeb.
