Awards and achievements. The faculty educates world-class athletes, winners and prizewinners of World and European Championships and Olympic Games. The faculty’s outstanding athletes are Albert Batyrgaziev, Olympic gold medalist in boxing in 2020 (Tokyo), Maksim Khramtsov, Olympic gold medalist in taekwondo in 2020 (Tokyo), Ivan Telegin, Olympic gold medalist in hockey in 2018 (PyeongChang), Evgeny Makarenko, a participant of the Olympic Games in boxing in 2004 (Athens), Alexander Maletin, Olympic bronze medalist in boxing in 2000 (Sidney), Alexey Nazinkin, World and European champion in wushu, Radik Zaripov, World and European Champion, a participant of the Olympic Wushu Tournament in 2008, Alexander Kovalevsky, World and European Champion, a finalist of the Olympic Games in freestyle wrestling in 1996 (Atlanta), Vera Moskalyuk, World and European Champion, a participant of the Olympic Games in judo in 2004 (Atlanta), 2008 (Beijing), 2012 (London), Nikita Ulyanov, Russian and European Champion, the winner of the 28th World Summer Universiade in swimming in 2015 (Gwangju, South Korea), Maria Kushtanova (Litvinova), World and European Champion in kickboxing.

Teaching staff. The training process is delivered by eminent coach-instructors, outstanding athletes, Doctors and Candidates of Sciences, and Professors.

Education. The educational program is based on multi- and interdisciplinary approaches. The program includes disciplines (modules) related to social sciences and humanities, natural sciences, medicine and biology, psychology and pedagogy, and professionally-oriented and sports and pedagogical disciplines (modules) as well as a number of internships in various areas. Graduates are ready to work as coaches, teach physical training at comprehensive schools, vocational schools, colleges, and universities as well as develop curricula and methods for preparing for and holding mass fitness events, etc.

Research. The department conducts research on objective methods for information research, design, collection and processing; intelligent systems and technologies; mathematical and statistical data processing, related science methods, information and communication technologies in physical training and sports.

Employers and employment. The university’s cooperation with educational institutions in the city, region and the Russian Federation, non-governmental sports organizations in the KhMAA-Yugra, Olympic Reserve schools creates massive employment opportunities for students.
