The international magazine Higher Education Discovery for international applicants familiarizes its readers with the lexical richness and diversity of the Russian language, its specific rules and exercises to consolidate them, as well as literature and music that can help learn the language. Moreover, the magazine shares the best practices of the top Russian universities to study Russian as a foreign language.
When teaching Russian as a foreign language, Yaroslavl State Technical University places emphasis on studying Russian culture, which helps not only master the language but also understand the Russian mentality. For example, the teachers at the YSTU Department of Foreign Languages held a meeting with international students as part of the Russian Language Club with the students of the Institute of Architecture and Design. The theme of the meeting was Acquaintance with Russian Phraseology.
The event took place at the YSTU Boiling Point. The students took an active part in an exciting game: at first, everyone tried to guess Russian fixed phrases and idioms all together, and then the students of the Institute of Architecture and Design helped the international students by explaining the meanings of idioms and the examples of their usage.
The event was held in a warm atmosphere and united the students in the exciting study of the Russian language and culture.
