Russian language and pre-university training

For international applicants who do not speak Russian.

At the request of international applicants, TulSU can offer individual and group Russian language courses.

Russian is considered one of the most difficult languages to study. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, declensions, moods, and a great number of exceptions – all of this becomes really confusing for foreign nationals. However, taking a pre-university program at TulSU in small groups in an extremely international and friendly environment relieves primary stress, as a rule. Moreover, the program places emphasis on the development and consolidation of phonetic and communication skills.

Traditionally, foreign citizens studying at TulSU choose programs in such fields of study as IT, engineering, economics, and humanities.

After international students complete the pre-university Russian language program and are enrolled in the first year at TulSU, they have the opportunity to get legally employed while studying.

  • Summer Linguistics School for Young Researchers “Dive into Science!”
  • International Summer School on the Russian Language, History and Culture
  • Summer School on Project Management, Startups, and Entrepreneurship

International students at TulSU have free access to an additional qualification at the university’s Digital Department that includes the acquisition of competencies required to carry out a new professional activity in information technology in IT-related majors and fields of study.

Arrival and adaptation

TulSU traditionally conducts a range of activities aimed at sociocultural adaptation of foreign nationals to the study and living environment in Russia.

Social and adaptation work includes:

  • meeting students at the airport and accompanying them to the university
  • working with incoming international students, where the primary objective is to help students not to feel lonely in the large multicultural environment and not to withdraw into their shell
  • maintaining a healthy psychological environment
  • working with foreign compatriot associations
  • helping students to undergo medical examination and receive medical services

Special emphasis is given to the adaptation of international students to living in the city of Tula.

Tula is one of the oldest cities in Russia, the birthplace of the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. It is a city with a rich historical, cultural, and architectural heritage, “the third museum capital of Russia.” There are a lot of creative spaces in Tula.

The university holds numerous conferences, exhibitions, festivals, forums dedicated to colorful national holidays, interaction between various cultures and creativity uniting the peoples of the world.

The events help unleash international students’ scientific and creative abilities, promote their healthy lifestyle, and ensure their security.
