Tell us a little about yourself, please. Why did you decide to study in Russia? What (or who) influenced this decision?

My name is Emmanuel Tiki, I am from Zambia. I decided to study in Russia because I was interested in Russian culture as well as because academic standards were very high here. My decision was influenced by my teachers and friends who were studying here already.

What were your first or brightest impressions of Russia?

My first impressions of Russia were cold weather, good-natured people, and beautiful architecture. In particular, I remembered the snowy streets and hospitality of local people.

In your opinion, what are the advantages of studying at Kuban State Agrarian University?

The advantages of my university are highly qualified teaching staff, state-of-the-art laboratories, and the opportunity to participate in scientific projects.

Tell us about your experience of learning Russian. What do you like most about it? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

I began studying Russian at the Preparatory Department. I like its melody and richness. I had some problems with grammar and pronunciation, but regular practice and my teachers helped me cope with them.

You are a Master’s student at the moment. Would you like to pursue your PhD degree? If so, what major are you going to choose?

Yes, I would. I am planning to choose a major related to economics.

Are you planning to stay in Russia and get a job here after graduation? If so, why?

Yes, I am. I would like to stay and work in Russia. It offers good career prospects and interesting professional opportunities.

What practical tips would you give your compatriots who are going to study in Russia? In your opinion, what should they focus on while preparing for admission to a Russian university?

I would advise them to study the culture, language and educational system in advance. It is important to prepare all the documents on time and be ready for adaptation to a new environment.
